Martin Hairer is the single winner of the 2021 Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics

30 Sep 2020

Professor Sir Martin Hairer is the single winner of the 2021 Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics. He was a PhD student at UNIGE in our member Jean-Pierre Eckmann’s group. He finished his PhD in 2001 on "Comportement asymptotique d’équations à dérivées partielles stochastiques".

Prof. Hairer not only got a Fields Medal in 2014, in a similar subject, but also recently was the single winner of the 2021 Breakthrough Prize in Mathematics. He receives three million USD and a trophy, which will be presented at a live awards ceremony next year.
