Evening in honour of Hugo Duminil-Copin

4 Jul 2022

The four Field Medal laureates were announced last week in Helsinki. We congratulate our members Hugo Duminil-Copin (UNIGE) and Maryna Viazovska (EPFL) who earned the highest recognition in mathematics for their outstanding contributions to the field. We would like to inform you that the next event in their honour will be a talk by Hugo given at UNIGE on Wednesday 13th of July.

Hugo’s talk will be in French, with simultaneous translation into English. For those who are not able to join us on-site in Geneva, it will also be streamed live. Whether onsite or online, we look forward to seeing you there!

Evening in honour of Hugo Duminil-Copin

When: Wednesday 13th of July 2022 |

Time: 18h30

Where: UNIGE, Auditoire B106 Uni Bastions, Rue De-Candolle 5, 1205 Geneva

Moderator: Elsa Floret, Agefi journalist

How does one become a mathematician? What motivates the researcher who sets out to find a solution to a mathematical problem, with no guarantee of success, and with no idea of how long it will take to reach his or her goal?

Hugo Duminil-Copin will tell us his story, (FR) from the start through to to the moment of the discovery that earned him the Fields Medal, the highest recognition in mathematics.

Come and meet him and ask him your questions about his daily life, his doubts, his encounters, his success, during an event organised in his honour.

(Live streaming information will be available through the above link on Wednesday 13th of July).
