UZH Honorary doctorates 2022

10 May 2022

Every year at the end of April, UZH commemorates its founding on April 29, 1833 and celebrates the dies academicus. The university celebration is not just an opportunity to look back and ahead. Every year, deserving personalities are honored with honorary doctorates and prizes are awarded for outstanding scientific achievements.

The University of Zurich celebrated the Dies academicus on Saturday, April 30, 2022. The seven faculties of the University of Zurich awarded honorary doctorates to the following outstanding scholars:

ecumenist Dorothea Sattler, Polish Commissioner for Human Rights Hanna Machińska, gender doctor Vera Regitz-Zagrosek, veterinarian Debbie Jaarsma, Education economist Eric Bettinger and forensic phonetician Peter French.

The Faculty of Science honored our member Prof. Dr. Ruth Durrer, professor of theoretical physics at the University of Geneva, in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments in theoretical cosmology.

Watch the video of the 2022 honorary doctorates (DE) (Ruth Durrer at 1:15:56).
