UNIGE inaugurates new Scienscope premises.

7 Oct 2021

Mathscope, along with the seven other Scopes, inaugurated yesterday a new site dedicated to the discovery of scientific subjects.

Seven areas dedicated to the discovery of the scientific subjects studied and taught in the Faculty of Science will be open for school classes from 11th of October and for the general public at a later date.

With over 35,000 visitors every year, the Scienscope of the University of Geneva is open to primary and secondary I and II classes, both public and private, as well as for extracurricular activities.

The Scienscope includes the Astroscope, the Bioscope, the BiOutils, the Chimiscope, the Infoscope, the Mathscope, the Physiscope and the Terrascope, where young UNIGE researchers run interactive workshops and carry out original experiments. The aim? To make science accessible to all, to question, to surprise, to amuse through edutainment activities and above all to stimulate young people's interest in science and contribute to the public's scientific culture.

As our Outreach Officer Shaula Fiorelli told the Tribune de Genève in an interview during the  Scienscope inauguration:

"The aim is to provide a fun and concrete approach to something that is abstract."
