π Day - Défi Carré du Diable

Join us for the Défi Carré du Diable on 14 March at Uni Dufour at the University of Geneva for an exceptional celebration of the mathematical constant π!

This special day is an opportunity to discover the beauty of mathematics through a unique challenge and collaborative game.

In this challenge, participants will try to surround an area as large as possible with some of the 12 Pentominoes of the Zodiac.

Whether you're passionate about mathematics or just curious, this challenge is for you! It's suitable for people of all ages and backgrounds, whatever their mathematical knowledge or interests, and will give everyone a chance to contribute to open-ended problems.

This game can also be played in collaborative mode: team up with your family, friends or people you meet during the event to win together.

Make sure to note 14 March in your diary and get ready to immerse yourself in the world of mathematics as we celebrate π Day.

This game is the result of a collaboration during the Gamification of Research workshop by Dr. Érika Roldán (MPI MiS & ScaDS.AI) as part of the "Let's Talk about outreach" conference in Les Diablerets at the SwissMAP Research Station in October 2022.
