New: ETH Math Youth Academy videos

5 Nov 2020

A major activity of the ETH Math Youth Academy has been the delivery of public talks aimed at a broad audience.

The goal of each talk is to communicate some nontrivial substantive piece of mathematics in an accessible way, without compromising rigor and precision of the exposition.

The emphasis is on creative, out-of-the-box thinking, so students can get inspired through examples of vivid mathematics. The topics belong to the domain of high school mathematics but reach beyond the regular school curriculum.

These lectures are all in interactive format, with members of the audience actively participating. Some talks took place at ETH, while others took place at various schools. They are of interest to students and the general public, thus popularizing the aesthetics in mathematics.

The recordings have also been used by teachers as part of in-class instruction on supplementary topics when their school schedules allow.

We hope that by popularizing these videos through the SwissMAP YouTube channel, these examples of beautiful and accessible mathematics will reach an even broader audience.
